Santhigiri Ashram is a world-renowned spiritual center founded by NavajyothisreeKarunakara Guru in 1964. Exhorting its followers to lead a life at peace with God and Nature, the ashram promotes transcendental spiritual values and secular ideals like universal love, world peace and religious harmony. Theguiding principles of the ashram have beeninfluenced profoundly by the teachings of great spiritual masters of the world, and without giving undue prominence to any particular religious tradition,the ashram attempts to unify humanity under an all-encompassing spiritual ideology. Her Holiness Sishyapoojitha Amritha JnanaThapaswini, the chosen disciple of NavajyothisreeKarunakara Guru, is the present spiritual head of the ashram.
For the past fifty years, Santhigiri Ashram has been following a three-pronged philosophy of giving free food, spiritual knowledge and holistic healthcare to the masses. The seamless blend of intuitional spiritual knowledge with ascientific approach and a spirit ofpragmaticrationalismhasenabled the ashram to effectively address the various problems faced by the modern society. For its activities in the healthcare sector, the ashram follows a system of holistic medicine – a unique combination of traditional medical sciences like Ayurveda and Siddha with modern medicine. The ashram also runs several welfare-oriented institutions including schools, colleges, industrial units, cultural wings and, social and scientific research centers.
The ashram is also home to the Lotus Parnasala, a lotus-shaped marble monument dedicated in memory of NavajyothisreeKarunakara Guru. Situated right in the middle of the serene atmosphere of Santhigiri Ashram’s Spiritual Zone, the Lotus Parnasala has attracted tourists and pilgrims from around the world belonging to all religions.
